Crystal's Dachshund Crossing
As a little girl born and raised in Florida by my grandparents, my days were
filled with new, animal experiences with, cats, dogs, ducks, lizards, hamsters,
and so on.  My grandmother taught me the values of loving animals and
particularly her passion for the dachshund breed throughout my childhood.
Her very principles and teachings evolved and bonded me with her forever by
molding the foundation of who I would later become.

I married Brian, my high school sweetheart, shortly following my completion
of high school, and we soon thereafter also purchased our current home. My
husband understood, supported, and shared my inherited love for animals and
dachshunds. We then knew that it was the appropriate time to buy a
dachshund of our own, and we actually purchased two close together. For us,
we could continue with my love and passions, but for my grandmother, she
could rekindle what had felt like a lost dachshund dream for so many years.

My grandmother soon fell ill, and moved in with us around the same time that
we were having our only child, Bailey. She found comfort and healing in our
two dachshunds; therefore, teaching us just how wonderful of a breed that the
dachshund is. We were hooked, it was a family affair, and we knew that we
wanted to begin breeding ourselves. After months of research, we finally found
the beginning of our stock and put together our breeding plan for the future.
My grandmother saw herself within all of us, and was filled with joy
throughout the final days of her life. She is now deceased (see our In Loving
Memories page), but her unsurpassed amount of love is in each of my dogs,
me, my husband of now 8 years, and my now 6 year old son.

Bailey has proven himself to be a further evolution of who I am growing into,
but more importantly who I once was as a child. I continue to mold closer to
the lady that my grandmother was by passing on her teachings, and Bailey has
the same heart that I had at his age. He would live in the puppy room if I let
him, but I obviously don’t. Since I do not let him live there, he always gives
each of the puppies good-bye hugs and kisses before he leaves, immediately
reunites with them when he gets home, and sleeps with three of his own adult
dogs every night. To see his behavior, is more support than anyone could ever
wish for.

I truly can not say enough about the support system that has made, and
continues to make Crystal’s Dachshund Crossing what is today; a
grandmother’s spirit encompassing 3 family generations, a vet that is there for
me 24 hours a day, 2 cats, and 30+ dachshunds, and not to mention the many
friends I have encountered along the way.
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
